Every year on December 5th is His Majesty the King’s birthday, and also the National Father’s Day. This year, Celebrations are held in all refugee camps on this occasion. In order to honor our beloved King as well as to raise awareness in forest and environment conservation among refugees, COERR Mae Hong Son took this opportunity to launch the tree planting by providing 200 seedlings for NGOs and refugees to plant, and 6,000 candles for Ban Mai Nai Soi refugee camp in Mae Hong Son’s Muang District; and to release 15,000 fish fry in the stream near Ban Mae Surin camp, Khun Yuam District, Mae Hong Son Province, which has been announced preservation territory in honor of His Majesty the King.
COERR Mae Sariang has also celebrated this occasion in Ban Mae Lama Luang camp, and Ban Mae La Oon camp in Mae Hong Son’s Sob Moei District, where refugees have participated in various activities for knowledge and fun such as the Agricultural Fair, the cultural performance and sports competition, etc.
COERR Mae Sod has celebrated the National Father’s Day in 3 big camps: Ban Mae La camp in Tha Song Yang District, Ban Umpiem camp in Pob Pra District and Ban Nupho camp in Umphang District, Tak Province. In these camps, the ceremonies consisted of official opening speech, made by the Thai camp commander, NGO officer, refugee leaders and COERR, to honor His Majesty the King whose expertise and philosophy has contributed to the improvement of the country and people. Then tradition and cultural ceremonies, sports competition and Agricultural Fair for public participation were organized, with approximately 500 refugee audience being involved in each camp.
At Ban Nupo Camp, the Father’s Day has drawn children’s attention in the cultivation activities in which they gathered to learn about planting seedling, germination, soil preparation, fermenting plant juice, using microorganismfor soil fertility, etc.
COERR Kanchanaburi Office also celebrated the National Father’s Day in Ban Don Yang camp, Kanchanaburi Province on December 3rd and in Ban Tham Hin camp, Ratchaburi Province on December 5th, in which many NGO officers and refugees participated in this prestigious ceremony. |
